1) Insert fiberglass rod into the Slough Stick base, line
up small holes, and insert wire or a clip to secure the
rod in the base.
2) Attach the included clips (or use you own clips according
to your own personal preferences) to the fiberglass rods.
Ensure that the clips are tightly fastened to the rod.
For single wire applications place the clip no higher
than halfway up the rod.
3) Attach clip to the fencing wire using a small piece
of wire as illustrated to ensure that the Slough Stick
doesn't slide back and forth along the fencing wire during
extreme weather conditions.
4) Depending on your order, you may notice that some
Slough Sticks in your package may come with an anchoring
wire hanging out the bottom of the base. If you are fencing
across a larger body of water or an open area where there
is the possibility of extreme water movement and windy
conditions we recommend that you attach a weight of approximately
5 lbs. (a cultivator shovel) directly to the bottom of
these base units and letting it hang in the water. Attach
one weighted Slough Stick in every 3rd or 4th spot along
the wire depending on conditions. This will help keep
the wire stable in extreme conditions.
5) The Slough Stick is designed to work with 1 or 2
wire barbed or electric fence wires but may be used with
any type of fencing application including a variety of
other practical portable dry land fencing applications
including swath grazing.
